The finish will be a semi-gloss black going to matt black with aging. Application tools are easily cleaned using water. 20 litres of PondShield-Pro comes in a 10 litre Part A bucket and a 10 litre Part B bucket. If applied as per instructions it will provide coverage of 30 square metres using 2 coats to provide a long term high quality sealant for your pond, waterfeature, retaining wall, tunnel or area which has rising damp.

Tips on using Pondshield Pro
Once the product has been opened, as long as it is kept sealed in a cool dry area the pot life is 12 months.
It is important to mix Pondshield Pro thoroughly to ensure the two parts are perfectly mixed, a mixer attachment on a drill is ideal however take care not to aerate the sealant.
PondShield Pro should only be mixed when needed and only the required amount should be mixed at any one time; no more than 1 – 2 square metres worth at a time as it can harden quickly depending on the temperature. It cannot be stored pre-mixed and then reused.
The required amount of product must be poured from the original container into an empty, clean ice-cream container or other vessel and then used and applied at the recommended rate; do not make the sealant “go further” – use more sealant if required.
A light mist of water sprayed on the concrete before painting particularly in warm weather will allow the sealant to get a good foothold on the concrete.
The paintbrush should not be dipped in and out of the original container as bacteria will cause the product to go off.
Also ensure that the correct thickness of the pond sealant is achieved, if the sealants are applied too thinly, a waterproof barrier will not be achieved and the pond may not hold water.
Any “sharp” angles in the pond, gaps in between bricks/blocks and overly rough or textured surfaces such as the pitting that occurs on limestone blocks should be smoothed out with render prior to sealing.
Old pond sealant cannot be painted over and should be completely removed using a diamond tipped grinding disc or high pressure gurney until the raw concrete/render is exposed. Before the pond is filled with water it is recommended to lightly spray and gently brush the sealant with a soft bristled broom to remove any residue, soak up the water pooling in the bottom of the pond with clean towels and repeat. The pond can then be filled with water.

Care must be taken to work the material into the surface to fill voids and avoid pin holing. A minimum of two coats is recommended and care should be taken to ensure uniformity of material and the required coverage is maintained. When finishing it is necessary to lay the material onto the surface and lightly finish to achieve the required dry film thickness per coat.
The coverage rate for all surfaces should be a total of 1.5 square metres per litre (3.0 square metres per litre per coat) to achieve optimum properties. In the event that this coverage rate is not achieved in two coats, further coats should be applied to achieve a total uniform coverage rate of 1.5 square metres per litre.
Allow to cure for 24 hours before applying adhesives, mortars, levelling compounds, decorative coatings or other surface treatments. Care is necessary to ensure the waterproofing membrane coating is not damaged in any way during subsequent treatments.
It is recommended that the final coating applied to floor surfaces should be allowed to cure for at least 3 days before further treatment to minimize the risks of mechanical damage.
Safety Precautions
PondShield Pro Part A and Part B are hazardous goods and may cause sensitization by skin contact. They are harmful by inhalation, in contact with skin and if swallowed. Keep containers tightly closed in a well ventilated place. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. It is strongly recommended that protective clothing is worn at all times during use of epoxy material to prevent contact with skin.
Thinning & Clean up
The first coat should be thinned with water, as required depending on the porosity of the surface to be coated (up to 20% for dense surface to 5% for more porous surfaces) to ensure optimum penetration. Thinning of the second coat should be avoided since this increases the difficulty in achieving the required dry film thickness. Wash all equipment in water or water/detergent immediately on completion.
